Amid all the news reports about the apocalyptic levels of pollution in Beijing this month, I thought I'd share one of my favorite iPad apps: "CN Air Quality," the China Air Quality app. It
tells you the level of air pollution being reported at the US Embassy in Beijing in real time, which can
be a good tool for making real-time teaching points during
environmentally or internationally relevant classes. (As an environmental law professor who spent last year living in North China, it has special relevance for me.)
Another good one for environmental teaching is "World Metro," which enables the user to look up the public
transportation alternatives in different cities around the world. It's fun,
though I haven't made it truly useful in either teaching or research yet. --ER
